Pick up two power banks that both call themselves "slim" and you will often find one is nearly twice as thick as the other. The word means nothing until there is a number next to it. On a magnetic power bank that number matters even more, because it sits on the back of your phone for as long as it charges.

This page is about the alain Air Mag, a slim MagSafe power bank that measures 9mm. Here is what you get, what you give up, and whether it is the right one for you.

Why thickness matters more on a MagSafe power bank

A normal power bank lives in your bag. A MagSafe one lives on your phone. You hold it, you slide it into a pocket with it, you put the phone face down on a table with it attached. Every extra millimetre is something you feel.

The catch is simple. Battery cells take up room, so more capacity means a thicker body. That is why slim and high capacity rarely come together, and why the thinnest MagSafe power banks are almost always 5,000mAh. If a listing promises ultra-slim and 10,000mAh in the same breath, look for the thickness in the specs. If it is missing, that tells you something.

Thickness 9mm
Capacity 5,000mAh
Wireless charging 15W MagSafe
Wired output 20W USB-C
Weight 112g
Finish Metallic
Certification BIS registered

5,000mAh is enough to take a phone from low to comfortably usable, and on many phones it comes close to one full charge. It is a top-up, not a second battery.

We print the 9mm figure on the page because "slim" on its own is just a word. As far as we have been able to check, we could not find another Indian brand that states a MagSafe power bank thickness of 9mm or less. So we call the Air Mag one of the slimmest MagSafe power banks from an Indian brand. If you know of a thinner one, write to us and we will update this page.

Air Mag or Magon?

Air Mag Magon
Thickness 9mm 14.2mm
Capacity 5,000mAh 10,000mAh
Wireless 15W MagSafe 15W wireless
Best for Daily carry, thin and light Longer days, more battery

Short version: pick the Air Mag if you want it to disappear. Pick the Magon if you want roughly twice the battery and do not mind a thicker body. Our own Magon page says it is noticeably thicker than the slim models, because it is.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

It suits you if you have an iPhone 12 or newer, you hate bulk, and you want a top-up that does not change how the phone feels in your hand.

Skip it if you regularly drain your phone twice in a day. In that case the thicker 10,000mAh option is the better tool, and no amount of clever design changes that.

Three quick checks before you buy

  1. Your phone. The magnets are built for MagSafe, which means iPhone 12 and newer. Other phones need a magnetic ring or case to hold the power bank in place.
  2. Your case. A thick case, or one without magnets, weakens the grip. Check this before blaming the power bank.
  3. How fast you need it. Wireless charging is slower than a cable. When you are in a hurry, use the 20W USB-C port instead.

Frequently asked questions

How thin is the alain Air Mag?

9mm. It also has 15W MagSafe wireless output, 20W wired output and a metallic finish.

Is the Air Mag the slimmest MagSafe power bank from an Indian brand?

We could not find another Indian brand that publishes a MagSafe power bank thickness of 9mm or less. That is why we say one of the slimmest, with the number on the page for you to check.

Is the Air Mag a full metal body?

It has a metallic finish. See the product page for the full materials and specifications.

Does a thin power bank charge slower?

Not by itself. Charging speed depends on the electronics, not the thickness. The Air Mag supports the full 15W MagSafe wireless speed and 20W wired charging.

Can I use it with an Android phone?

Yes, through the USB-C port with a cable. For wireless charging, the phone needs Qi wireless charging and a magnetic ring or case to keep the power bank attached.

Does it have a warranty and certification?

Yes. It is BIS registered and comes with a 1-year warranty.
